Gold Medal Winning FlyersFlyers Ice Hockey Club players Robert Leckey, Stevie Hamill and Gareth Martin are shown with their GOLD Medals and Championship Plate following their outstanding performance in the IIHF World Div III Championships in Kockelsheuer, Luxembourg as part of Team Ireland. In addition to the 3 lads, Mark Reynolds also was part of Team Ireland to bring the tally of Flyers Ice Hockey Players to 4, a fantastic achievement for not only the lads but also the team.

The Flyers wish to extend congratulations to our players who's valuable efforts added to Ireland's outstanding victory in Luxembourg. The team are currently making their way back by land on a long distance Road Trip Cool due to the ongoing disruptions to travel in Europe due to the Volcanic Ash from Iceland. We wish the entire Team Ireland crew a speedy trip home and a well deserved rest, because training kicks off again on the 4th of May under the guidance of Coach Simon Kitchen.

Flyers B TeamFlyers Ice Hockey Club were also in action this past weekend where the B Team played in the Finals of the Irish Ice Hockey  Development Division at Dundalk Ice Dome. In what turned out to be an excellant display of hockey in front of a good sized crowd at the Ice Dome, the team took on the Raiders whom they had beaten previously during the Development Division. The team was coached by Rich De Palma of the Flyers A Team who led and guided the team throughout the season.

The 12 man team gave their all during the game against the Raiders, but following end-to-end play from both sides it was the Raiders who came out on top with a 4-3 win. The last minutes of the game included penalties, plentiful shots on goal, including blocked shots on empty Flyers nets after Goaltender Emmet Dowling was taken off to provide the team with an extra offensive player. At the end of the game both teams acknowledged each other's efforts and took part in a combined photo shoot in what was described as gamesmanship of the highest caliber. The B Team are developing all of the time and any potential Flyers are encouraged to come along to training and become part of one of Ireland's longest established teams.
